About the BLUE-ERA project
The main mission of BLUE-ERA is to establish a new Master’s Degree Program in Sustainable Blue Economy in Tunisia, Egypt, and Jordan.
This program will promote the sustainable use of ocean resources to:
- Support local economic development;
- Create new job opportunities, particularly for young graduates;
- Encourage entrepreneurship and innovation adapted to local contexts;
- Protect and preserve marine and coastal ecosystems for future generations.
To achieve these goals, the project will include:
- Gap analysis to identify educational and infrastructure needs;
- Laboratory installations and fieldwork for hands-on learning;
- Capacity building for staff and students through summer/winter schools and training in European universities;
- Online and in-person seminars, workshops, and knowledge dissemination events.
Admission to the MSc program will be open to students from diverse academic backgrounds, including marine sciences, geology, geophysics, environmental engineering, coastal management, and environmental economics.
To respond to these challenges, BLUE-ERA brings together universities from the South Mediterranean and European partners from France, Italy, and Greece.
Together, they aim to build a strong academic and research foundation that supports a sustainable and inclusive blue economy.
