The MSc in Blue Economy and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Monastir is a forward-thinking program developed as part of the BLUERA Project. The program results from close collaboration between academics, decision-makers, and industry professionals. It addresses the pressing environmental issues affecting marine and coastal ecosystems, providing students with a dual approach to marine science, integrating both molecular and ecosystemic perspectives. This research-oriented master’s degree prepares students for careers in aquatic environmental fields, equipping them with practical and theoretical knowledge, and tools from emerging sciences such as microbiological engineering, geomatics, and environmental modeling. Students will gain hands-on experience through laboratory bioassays and in-field work, preparing them to tackle real-world environmental challenges.
The University of Monastir is proud to offer this new MSc program as part of its commitment to academic excellence and research in environmental sustainability. With Tunisia’s extensive coastline and increasing pressures such as urbanization, overfishing, pollution, and rising sea levels, the coastal regions play a critical role in the local economy.
