The BLUE-ERA Summer School was successfully organized at the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale (ULCO) from 22 to 24 April 2025. The event brought together students, academics, and project partners to deepen their understanding of the blue economy, sustainability, and emerging trends in higher education.
The Summer School featured a rich and diverse program of lectures and workshops, including:
- Circular Economy and Blue Innovations – Prof. Blandine Laperche
- Transport in a Warming World: Strategies for Adaptation and Mitigation – Prof. Moez Kilani
- Climate Change and Marine Biodiversity – Dr. Gregory Beaugrand
- Monitoring Ocean Color from Satellite Observations – Prof. Cédric Jamet
- Biomonitoring of Aquatic Environments – Dr. Mamadou Diop
- Marine Plastic Pollution: Sources, Impacts, and Solutions – Dr. Jérémy Thery
- Bioplastics and Biodegradables in Maritime Activities – Dr. Wajid Ali
- Aquatic Plastic Pollution: Theoretical and Practical Training – Prof. Rachid Amara and Mr. Guillaume Veillet
Additionally, on 24 April, a special session was held on Emerging Trends in Pedagogy in Higher Education, led by Ms. Christine Hazbrouck and Prof. Sabine Duhamel, followed by consortium partners’ discussions on ongoing research projects, mobility opportunities, and the progress of the BLUE-ERA project.
The Summer School created an excellent platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration among partners, and inspiring new initiatives within the BLUE-ERA framework.
It was highly appreciated by participants for its interactive approach, practical field sessions, and the opportunity to network and exchange ideas around sustainable blue economy strategies.
